Why is my candle/melt sweating?
Soy wax has a tendency to sweat when there are extreme temperature changes, such as it going from 35 in your house in the day, to 26 in your house at night, or from an air conditioned store to your non-air conditioned house. It is a natural occurrence and does not affect the quality of the candle whatsoever. If it bothers you, you can simply wipe the excess oil (which is what the candle is actually ‘sweating’) with a paper towel.

Is your soap made with lye?
It sure is. It is actually impossible to make ‘soap’ without lye. You can make detergent without it, but not soap.
Bodywash contains no soap, which is why it also contains no lye.
There is no lye (NaOH) left in hand-made soap once it has saponified.

Why does my skin feel ‘dry’ after using soap?
Here’s a basic run-down of how soap works.  Slightly scientific because I’m a geek 🙂
Soap is made of two molecules with differences either end. One end is hydrophillic (loves water) and the other is hydrophobic (it hates water).
The hydrophobic end attaches to the dirt you have accumulated and the natural oils on your body and the hydrophillic part suspends them in the water so they it be washed from your body So that feeling you get of being ‘dry’ is simply your skin being very clean, including being clean of your natural oils.
Soap cannot moisturise. It’s very nature is to clean, and clean alone. Moisturiser is designed to moisturise. You wouldn’t wash yourself with moisturiser and expect it to clean you, so you should not expect a soap to moisturise you 🙂

Why choose soy wax?
Soy wax is made from an environmentally friendly and renewable resource.
If you want to reuse your pretty jars for things like jewelry or vases, it’s extra easy with soy wax. You only need hot water and some paper towel to get them clean.
Spillages are generally easy to clean up with warm water – but don’t use that as an excuse to not put your candle on a heat proof surface!
Soy gives a cleaner, longer burn than paraffin and gives off more scent.
